31st Annual Dickens Christmas Show and Festival in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.
It’s time to get into the Christmas spirit and start your holiday decorating, shopping and baking. What better way to begin then by attending the 31st Annual Dickens Christmas Show & Festivals in Myrtle Beach, SC
Voted consistently as one of the Southeast's Top 20 Events, the show attracts thousands of buyers year-after-year eagerly strolling through the Victorian themed marketplace in search of that one-of-a-kind perfect gift. With over 350 vendors offering everything from fine arts and crafts, Christmas décor, toys, food and fun.
This even has been going on since 1981 in Myrtle Beach. Inspired by Dickens' immortal book, "A Christmas Carol", the Dickens Christmas Show and Festivals is an authentic re-creation of 19th century London with all the color, warmth and merriment of Christmas during the time of Charles Dickens.
The event is held at the Myrtle Beach Convention Center, located at 21st Avenue North and Oak Street. This year the event will be held from November 8 – 11, 2012. Entrance fees are $8.50 for adults, $4.00 for children and a multi-day pass for $13.00. The hours are Thursday – Saturday from 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM and Sunday, noon – 6 PM.
One of the most amazing things is that the Dickens Christmas Show is actually several shows in one. There are other inspiring mini festivals for you to enjoy under one roof. They range from the festival of tables that has Holiday Centerpieces ranging from traditional themed to whatever you can imagine. These centerpieces will be part of a silent auction and all proceeds will go to WARM – Waccamaw Animal Rescue Mission.
Next, there is the Festival of worlds. What a great opportunity for you to experience the different cultures celebrate Christmas from all around the world. Local non-profit organizations sponsor a country. They provide holiday customs, styles and food.
Visit the Festival of Trees. This includes over 50 trees that have been decorated in their own unique holiday décor. What a great place to get ideas for your own tree. Next to the trees there is the festival of wreaths, again decorated differently and with their own unique personality.
It wouldn’t be a holiday festival without a visit from you knows who? Santa’s Castle is set in an English Castle setting complete with Armored Knights. Make sure to have a souvenir photo taken with Santa, he will be waiting.
Finally, there is the Santas Through the Ages Display. Some call this “The crown jewels of the show”, Santas Through the Ages. This is not only historic, but also life-size and three-dimensional exhibit of Santa. They each are extravagantly dressed starting from medieval times...to Father Christmas...to the present day Santa.
This 4-day festival should be on everyone’s list this year. With all of the magic created you won’t want to miss.
