Broadway at the Beach Presents Halloween 2013 in Myrtle Beach
Fall is a spectacular time of year to visit Myrtle Beach. All your favorite attractions are still in full swing, but without the crazy crowds! If you’re here for Halloween, there’s plenty of entertainment to be found, including spooky festivities at Broadway at the Beach.
The October 31 fun starts with trick-or-treating for kids from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the stores of Broadway. It’s a great choice for visitors to town who may not know which neighborhoods are good trick-or-treating locations, and even locals love bringing their kids down to Broadway to load up on goodies.
The party carpet gets rolled out for the grown-ups with the clubs of Broadway’s Celebrity Square hosting an annual adult costume contest, which this year will be held Saturday, Oct. 26.
“It’s a crazy night,” said Craig Smith, who owns the Broadway clubs Revolutions and Crocodile Rocks. “And it’s a really fun night. We get close to 5,000 people out there. It’s a big costume party, it’s huge. We’ve been doing it for about 18 years now.”
Admission to the party is free, and admission to all of the Broadway clubs is free on Halloween if you’re wearing a costume. The party gets started around 8 p.m. in Celebrity Square, where bars and food vendors will be set up. Around 10:30 to 11 p.m., the costume contest gets underway, with local celebrities judging the initial round.
“Once we get it down to the final five, its audience participation that picks the winner,” Smith said. The grand prize winner takes home $2,500, the second place winner earns $1,500 and the third prize winner receives $1,000.
If the party is rained out on Oct. 26, it will be pushed back to Nov. 2.
