If you’re planning a Myrtle Beach vacation between April and early September, consider checking out a Myrtle Beach Pelicans game. The minor league baseball team that celebrates its 15th season on the Grand Strand this year, and its home games at TicketReturn.com Field, are a popular way to catch professional-caliber baseball with minor-league prices. The Pelican are so popular that last season, more than 220,000 fans attended games!
Be sure to check out the Myrtle Beach Pelican’s website for promotions such as Wiener Wednesday, where you can load up on $1 Hebrew National hot dogs throughout the game. Of course there’s also the ballpark staple Thirsty Thursdays, with $1 Budweiser and Bud light draft beers from 6 to 8 p.m. and a party atmosphere in the Budweiser Thirst Inning Deck in left field.
If you’re in town all week, make sure to come back on Sundays for the family-friendly Sunday pregame “Catch on the Field” and the fireworks shows that accompany most Sunday games. This season will include 18 fireworks shows, including opening night, Father’s Day on June 16 and an Independence Day celebration July 3.
Some other special theme nights planned for the upcoming Myrtle Beach Pelicans season include:
• Military Appreciation Night, April 7
The Pelicans will be honoring the Air Force Base reunion group that will be meeting in Myrtle Beach and raising funds for the Wounded Warrior Project.
• Special Olympics Night, April 27
The evening will be a fundraiser for the Special Olympics sponsored by the Horry County Police Department and their Law Enforcement Torch Run. Special Olympians will be on hand to sing the national anthem and participate in on-field games.
• Princess Night, July 14
Includes appearances by famous movie princesses.
Another fun option to make your visit to watch the Pelicans even better: Splurge on the All-You-Can-Eat Seats! You’ll have an excellent view overlooking the bullpen in right field, and you’ll also get unlimited buffet access to hamburgers, hot dogs, French fries, nachos, popcorn and soda. There are only 20 of these tickets per game, so call the box office the day of the game to reserve your spot.
This year’s season of baseball in Myrtle Beach steps up to the plate on April 3 at 7:05 p.m. with a game against the Wilmington Blue Rocks. Tickets begin at $6, and are available, along with a full season schedule, at www.myrtlebeachpelicans.com
