Cap’n Rod’s Lowcountry Tours

Looking to discover the hidden side of South Carolina that can only be reached by boat? Trust an experienced guide who knows the local backwaters like the back of his hand with Cap’n Rod’s Lowcountry Tours.

Offering expeditions to the natural waters and barrier islands of the South Carolina coast, Cap’n Rod’s Lowcountry Tours takes passengers off the grid to see the scenic sites, take spectacular photos and hear fantastic stories about the history and mystery of the Palmetto State and its people.

The most popular retreat is the Lighthouse Shell Island Tour, a four-hour excursion to a small barrier island off the coast of historic Georgetown. Passengers can comb the beach for sharks teeth and seashells during the 90-minute stop on the island, as well as snap pics of the old lighthouse at the entrance to Winyah Bay.

The Plantation River Tour sails out of Murrells Inlet through the Waccamaw Neck and to some of the true inland treasures of the Grand Strand. Passengers see the remnants of the old rice fields and plantations, slave quarters, ancient live oak trees draped in Spanish moss, and alligators sunbathing on the banks.

The Sunset Eco Tour takes passengers out to Winyah Bay in Georgetown for a splendid view of the western horizon. The setting sun sends splashes of colors streaking across the skyline and signals wildlife to wrap up their days. Passengers routinely spot eagles and other birds of prey hunting and returning to their nests, as well as pods of dolphins making their way from the Intracoastal Waterway back out to sea.

Cap’n Rod is as much a local historian and storyteller as a boat captain, bringing to life the colorful characters who made their homes in the Lowcountry. Relax on the safe, shaded and comfortable boat and hear tales to make some great vacation memories. Cap’n Rod’s also offers tours for special occasions and group outings.

Cap’n Rod’s tour boat has a shaded deck, along with clean and modern restrooms. Each tour is handicap accessible. And, if you get hungry or thirsty during your tour, Cap’n Rod offers snacks and soft drinks!

Priavte Charters are also available via Cap’n Rod’s Lowcountry Tours. Whether you are looking for a charter for a wedding, reunion, company outing, or for another occasion, Cap’n Rod’s is happy to serve you.
