During your visit to Myrtle Beach, America’s favorite family beach vacation destination, take a side trip to see one of America’s first and most popular cities in nearby Charleston, South Carolina aboard a Charleston Adventures tour.
Passengers can take a two-hour bus ride down the coast and travel more than 300 years back in time to explore the historic port city. Founded in 1670, Charleston is steeped in Southern charm, scenic beauty and pre-Colonial history.
Departing from the Coastal Grand Mall in Myrtle Beach, Coastal Adventures offers a comfortable, air-conditioned bus ride through the scenic South Carolina Lowcountry that sets the stage for a busy day of sightseeing in the Holy City.
Start your day with a carriage ride through the city streets that are lined by ancient live oaks draped in Spanish moss. From your perch atop the mule-driven carriage you will see antebellum homes, churches, gardens and graveyards.
Following your carriage ride down the cobblestone streets, make your way to the waterfront district for a boat tour through the historic Charleston Harbor, where you will see the USS Yorktown, The Battery, dolphins and sea turtles.
The 90-minute Charleston Harbor Tour is narrated by the Carolina Belle captain with 75 points of interest, including Fort Sumter, birthplace of the Civil War. Passengers enjoy a boxed lunch between snapping photos of notable sites.
Once back on dry land, the tour heads to historic Boone Hall Plantation for a guided tour through the grounds of one of Charleston’s oldest and wealthiest rice plantations. The 738-acre estate has been preserved to its original state.
