“Hi. Welcome to Pirates Treasure House. My name is Richard Deagan, and my wife Linda and I have this store. We opened up here about 15 years ago. Decided to do a pirate theme. There’s a lot of history of pirates in North Carolina and South Carolina. When people walk into a store, the first thing they do as they look around and say ‘How did you get all this stuff in this little building?’ And I say ‘Well, it was a lot of work.’ We have a lot of different items. You won’t find most of the things we have in the many beach stores you find up and down the Grand Strand. It’s different; a lot of it is made by me and it’s unique things we pick up from some of our trips. The artwork I do… I do wood carvings, I do chainsaw carvings to small pieces, paintings mostly on wood. Some I do on canvas. A lot of the materials I use are recycled that somebody was going to throw away and I decided I could make something useful out of them. So I make a lot of stuff out of old boards, pallets and all kinds of materials that people would normally discard. We’re located on Little River historic waterfront. That’s down on Mineola in Little River. Our address is 4472 Mineola Ave in Little River. And we have a website – It’s PiratesTreasureHouse.com.”
