Countdown to Splashdown at Myrtle Beach Water Parks

By

Thrill-seekers on the Grand Strand can’t wait for the grand opening of local water parks. They don’t have to wait much longer as the Myrtle Beach area’s three water parks are set to open in the month of May. Listed below is an overview of all three parks and their countdowns to opening day splashdowns:

  • Myrtle Waves Water Park: This Myrtle Beach water park pumps more than 1 million gallons of water through the facility every day, beginning a week earlier than the others on Saturday, May 17, and closing by nearly two weeks later than the other two on Sept. 14. Myrtle Waves has a long list of water slides, including speed courses, winding courses and other unique attractions. The wave pool and lazy river are perfect hangouts for those not quite brave enough to tackle the scarier slides, and a large aquatic playground for children is a great place for the little ones to burn off some energy and cooling off at the same time.

  • Wild Water & Wheels Water Park: This Surfside Beach multiplex gives guests a wide range of activities to choose from when it opens on Friday, May 23. Ride the many water slides, take a spin around the track on go-carts, play a round of putt-putt golf or cool off in the arcade for a full day of fun. The water park is the main attraction, featuring tube slides, speed slides and mat slides of varying heights and lengths. A wave pool, lazy river and kiddie aquatic playground are good for the older and younger set. The Race Zone offers five different tracks to race your friends and family members, and the mini-golf course is fun for all ages.

  • Family Kingdom Splashes Water Park: As the only oceanfront water park in Myrtle Beach, Splashes opens its gates on Saturday, May 24. Featuring twisting towers and giant flumes, Splashes allows guests to get a bird’s-eye view of the Atlantic Ocean, beach and downtown Myrtle Beach district before zipping down the track and splashing down into a cool pool. Splashes also has a lazy river and kiddie pool and playground area for the little ones. Guests can purchase all-day passes to Splashes and the adjoining Family Kingdom Amusement Park at a discounted price.
