No beach umbrella? No problem! They’re Easy to Rent in Myrtle Beach

One of the great things about Myrtle Beach is that you don’t have to drag your nice beach chairs and umbrellas down to the beach if you don’t want to. During the summer season, you can simply rent a beach chair and umbrellas from the lifeguards!

Lack’s Beach Service provides lifeguard services to the beach from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. seven days a week, rain or shine. Lack’s rents chairs and provides lifeguard services at more than 50 lifeguard stands between North Myrtle Beach and Surfside, employing more than 100 lifeguards from mid April through October.

“The only time the lifeguards leave the beach is if there’s a hurricane, and even then, it has to be pretty bad,” said Katie Holland, an executive assistant at Lack’s Beach Service.

The lifeguards set up wooden beach chairs (the staff at Lack’s make the chairs!) and umbrellas by 9 a.m. every day. A set of two chairs and an umbrella will set you back $30 for the day. Extra chairs when you’ve rented a set are $5, and just a chair without an umbrella is $7. All you have to do is approach a lifeguard; they accept both cash and cards. And don’t worry if it doesn’t look like there’s enough—if  necessary, the lifeguards can call the warehouse to have more chairs or umbrellas delivered.

Due to local ordinances, the umbrellas can’t be moved unless you’re moving them back away from the water, though you can move your chairs as you’d like. Also, beach equipment must be removed from the beach by Lack’s by 5 p.m.

If you’re serious about your beach time, or plan to be in Myrtle Beach for the entire summer season, you can reserve a seat on the beach from May 24 through Sept. 22 for $675.

Reservations can be made for large groups that wish to have many chairs next to each other. Just call Lack’s Beach service at 843-626-4549 to arrange. Reservations are also accepted around the busy July 4 holiday.
