This mom-and-pop country store was converted into a café in 1948 and started the seafood restaurant scene in Murrells Inlet. The grandchildren and great-grandchildren of the original founders still operate Lee’s, which has expanded out of necessity six times during its existence.
Lee’s specializes in Lowcountry cooking and Southern-style seafood, offering their famous fried, grilled or broiled fish and shrimp platters and Murrells Inlet standards like crab cakes and soft-shell crab. Seafood-lovers can mix and match the fresh catch, shrimp, scallops, lobster and more to make their favorite personal platter, or pair one with prime rib for a surf-and-turf classic. For those who prefer “landfood,” Lee’s serves up heaping helpings of traditional Southern cuisine like fried chicken, pork chops and a wide selection of steaks, chops and chicken. Start with a bowl of Lee’s famous She Crab Soup, a six-time winner of the Murrells Inlet Chowder Contest, and finish with a slice of fresh fruit cobbler topped with melting ice cream.
History surrounds you at Lee’s, where multiple makeovers can’t disguise the restaurant’s passing of the test of time. The dining area is old school and will make you feel like you have gone to visit a long-lost aunt with legendary cooking.Open
