Generations of visitors have fond vacation memories of The Myrtle Beach Pavilion before the downtown amusement park closed in 2006. Now today’s generation can experience a taste of the good old days with a trip to Broadway at the Beach’s Pavilion Park.
Featuring a mix of more than 50 modern rides and classic amusements, many of which were moved from the old Pavilion site just a short distance away to Broadway at the Beach. Now the park has expanded to include three different locations at the Broadway complex.
The Pavilion Park East features several originals from the old Pavilion, most notably the antique carousel that has been restored to its classic condition. The all-ages ride will bring back memories for longtime visitors, who can share the experience with their children and grandchildren.
Other favorites at Pavilion Park East include The Beast, The Caterpillar and The Rocket, all of which are designed for the young and young at heart who aren’t afraid of an adrenaline rush. There are also rides for children, like the Bumper Boats, Dune Buggies, Demolition Derby and the Myrtle Turtles mini-roller coaster.
The Pavilion Park West is best for the little ones, with more than a dozen kid-friendly rides and amusements. Located under the new, neon-lit Broadway 360 Observation Wheel, a monster-sized, modern-era ferris wheel that takes passengers high above the complex.
The rest of Pavilion Park West was designed with families in mind, including the classic West Carousel, the Samba Balloon Ride and Balloon Wheel, Magic Bikes, Red Baron Mini-Jets, the Speedway go-kart track, the Super Happy Swing, Mini-Tea Cupsand the Rio Grande Train Ride.
The Pavilion Park Central is home to some of Broadway at the Beach’s most popular attractions from the former Pavilion site – the vintage Wave Swinger and American Swinger rides and the Pipeline Slide. Newer amusements include The Tsunami, The Moonraker 20, and Speed XXL, a rotating beam that takes passengers on a wild ride.
Patrons can purchase individual tickets for all the rides, or an all-day unlimited ride wristband.
