Get up close and personal with more than 200 animals at Alligator Adventure – but not too close. The Barefoot Landing wildlife park features a broad spectrum of reptiles, birds and other exotic critters, but none more plentiful and feared than the alligators.
Within the fences of Alligator Adventure are countless American alligators and crocodiles in the water and on the banks of the lake. Walkways provide a safe and strategic vantage point to watch and take photos of the prehistoric creatures. Alligator Adventures holds feeding shows where patrons can watch the beasts snatch whole chickens from the hands of park naturalists. Among the most popular residents are Utan, an 18-foot, one-ton croc; and Bob, a native gator born without a tail.
But gators and crocs aren’t the only stars at Alligator Adventure. The park is also home to a wide variety of reptiles in the enclosed Reptile Center, which houses exotic snakes, turtles, frogs and lizards. Regular shows are hosted by trained handlers who show off a diverse range of slithering snakes, and guests are invited to interactive.
The Tropical Bird aviary also displays a broad array of brightly colored macaws, Chinese flamingos, owls, cranes and the exotic Kookaburra, which has a unique call that guests try to mimic.
Alligator Adventure is a must-see for wildlife lovers visiting Myrtle Beach. Its location at Barefoot Landing gives visitors plenty of other fun activities to do before and after their visit.
