The climate in Myrtle Beach is technically subtropical, but if you’re in the mood for the full-on tropical atmosphere then Barefoot Landing’s Fire Island is the place to go.
Fried Oysters and Calamari kick off the appetizer menu, with Shrimp N’ Crab Dip and Gator Bites (yep, alligator) filling out the list. Fittingly, the standout of the soup and salad portion of the menu is the Polynesian Salad, a combination of Mandarin oranges, pineapple chunks, and crunchy noodles on a bed of lettuce with two shrimp skewers and Oriental dressing. Options for steak include an Island Sirloin, Prime Beef Skewers, and Filet Medallions, while the South Pacific-themed Pork Chops and Memphis-via-Asia Baby Back Ribs complete the list of hearty meats.
For Seafood, guests can choose from the ubiquitous, ever-popular Calabash Platter, Bacon-Wrapped Scallops, Alaskan Wild Salmon, or Coconut Shrimp, just to name a few. And the Chicken options span the corners of the tropics with Sweet n’ Sour, Calypso Coconut, Jerk Chicken, and Hawaiian Chicken.
All entrées are served with julienne vegetables and choice of garlic mashed potatoes, fries, island rice, or white jasmine rice.
And for those interested in sandwiches, the list includes an Alaskan Wild Salmon Burger, the Garden Burger, and the Polynesian Pulled Pork Sandwich.
Tikis, palm trees, and fire pits give the dining room an island-chic vibe, while the outside patio is much more surf-shacky and probably better suited for burgers and beer. The kitchen is open from lunch until late dinner, and the happy hour is said to be well-worth the trip to the tropics.
