Myrtle Beach has a vibrant theater scene, but none provide the intimate experience of the GTS Theatre.
Featuring way-off Broadway entertainment in an off-the-beaten path location, the GTS Theatre packs a lot of action into a small but spirited venue. Designed as a cabaret style theater with a variety of unique performances, the GTS Theatre offers an intimate setting in which the audience participation is both welcomed and encouraged. Performances range from musical showcases to comedy and magic shows with rotating acts that serve up family-friendly entertainment.
Among the more popular shows are the Motor City Musical, featuring a talented cast of singers and dancers paying tribute to the hottest R&B hits and acts to appear on the Motown label. Hear remarkable renditions of Aretha Franklin, Marvin Gaye, Diana Ross, Stevie Wonder and others. The GTS Theatre also hosts Hispanic song and dance numbers with the Latino Variety Show, featuring the Latin beats of pop, mariachi, salsa and more.
The GTS Theatre puts traditional rock ‘n roll front and center for the Rock ‘N Soul Variety Show, which highlights the full spectrum of pop, rock, funk, soul and R&B. Featured performers deliver dead-on renditions of hits from the 1970s, ’80s and ’90s while the crowds dance and sing along.
Of course, no show would be complete without an appearance by the King of Rock ‘N Roll himself, and an Elvis showcase is performed by renowned tribute artist Alex Mitchell as he spans the long musical career with full vocals and costumes. Other tribute shows include the Blues Brothers and the Men of Motown troop.
The GTS Theatre also provides non-musical entertainment with Surprise – a magical comedy routine by acclaimed magician Michael Bairefoot. Other unique shows include a hypnosis comedy performance. The holiday season ushers in a series of Christmas shows, including the Motown Christmas Tribute and Christmas in Dixie, a Redneck-Style Holiday Show.
The show schedule and times vary from week to week so check the calendar and make plans to see your favorite act up close at the GTS Theatre.
