Capriccio’s Restaurant & Pizzeria

New York transplants love the pizza here, claiming that the consistency of the dough is close to what they’re used to getting back home. But NY-style pies aren’t the only thing that keeps them coming back – Capriccio’s offers a reasonably-priced full Italian menu for lunch and dinner.

Capriccio’s Restaurant & Pizzeria Food

The pizza is main attraction, so let’s start there. In addition to standards like Cheese and Sicilian, the list of Gourmet Pizzas includes interesting combinations like the San Gennaro (Italian sausage, onions, roasted peppers), Chicken Marsala Pizza (baby mushrooms, Marsala-marinated chicken), Lasagna Pizza (fresh ground beef, ricotta), and Taco Pizza (ground beef, tomatoes, cherry peppers, black olives, onions). And of course there are plenty of options for traditionalists – Margherita, White, Meat Lovers.

The list of Antipasto Freddi (cold apps) includes Mozzarella Caprese, Bruschetta, and Cold Antipasto (prosciutto, salami, sopressata, fresh mozzarella, roasted peppers, provolone, olives). The Antipasto Caldi (hot apps) highlights are Mozzarella in Carozza (fresh mozz on American bread, egg and cheese-battered, breaded, fried), Stuffed Mushrooms (silver dollars stuffed with peppers, chopped meat, bread crumbs, in a marsala sauce), and Baked Clams Oregenato (Littlenecks with bread crumbs, garlic, and olive oil).

Insalata offerings includes basics like Garden, Caesar, Greek, and Cobb, as well as unique creations such as the Capriccio Salad (spinach, bacon, mushrooms, red onions), and Pasta Salad (noodles, broccoli, black olives, sun-dried tomatoes, house vinaigrette).

Capriccio’s also has a wide range of pastas on the list of Primi Piattas, including Linguini Carbonara (onions, bacon, egg yolk, butter, parmesan, cream), Linguini Putanesca (olives, capers, olive oil, fresh tomato, basil), Gnocchi Sorrentino (homemade dumplings, tomato, mozz, parm, eggplant, herbs), and Penne alla Gina (chicken, sun-dried tomatoes, mushrooms, marsala wine).

The Second Piatta (main course) list is composed of chicken and veal classics like Parmigiana, Milanese, Franchese, Marsala, Scarpiello, Picatta, Sorrentino, and Alla Roma. All main courses are served with penne marinara or vegetables, and a small house salad. Pesce (fish) preparations are similar, with the addition of Shrimp Scampi, Calamari Fra Diavolo, and Salmone al Ocenico (lemon garlic, olive oil, herbs).

For Hot and Cold Sandwiches, diners can choose from Chicken or Veal Cutlets, Sausage & Peppers, Grilled Chicken with Broccoli Rabe, Eggplant, an Italian Combo, and more.

And to finish it all off, dessert options include New York Style Cheesecake, Tiramisu, Cannoli, Tartuffo, and a revolving dessert of the day.

Capriccio’s Restaurant & Pizzeria Atmosphere

There’s a lot more space inside than you’d think, some of which is used for a walk-up to-go counter, some of it for a proper dining room that has the feel of Italy. There’s also Al Fresco (outdoor) seating for the many days and nights of the year that are suitable for such a thing. The only drawback is that Capriccio’s, like many other worthwhile Myrtle beach restaurants, is in a strip-mall, which means that the view outside is of a parking lot. No matter though, the food is good enough to distract you from the lack of scenery.
