Dirty Don’s Oyster Bar

Dirty Don’s serves as much as a bar as a restaurant, but the fresh seafood and refreshing drinks are what keeps people coming back for more. Locally owned and soon to open a new location in Barefoot Landing, this seafood shack has lots of followers, both locals and tourists. The weekend oyster roasts are popular gatherings.

Dirty Don’s Food

As the name indicates, the oyster is the center of the menu and universe at Dirty Don’s. You can get them steamed, blackened, fried, “Rockerfella” or just plain raw with a side of cocktail sauce and crackers. The Seafood Pizza Pie and Shrimp and Grits are the house specialties. Other seafood options include shrimp, mussels, clams and crab legs, and fried baskets are available in any combination. But the menu also features plenty of good “landfood” options, like grilled steak and chicken, and some “junk food” selections such as the Carolina BBQ sandwich or hot dog with chili, slaw and onions. The drinks menu is almost as long and varied as the food, with numerous frozen concoctions on the lineup.

Dirty Don’s Atmosphere

Dirty Don’s leans a little toward the bar side except for the regular lunch and dinner hours so the environment can be a bit festive for a quiet feast. But that’s why folks come to Dirty Don’s – to have a good time as well as a good meal. The outdoor patio is heavily populated during the $6 oyster roasts, held every Saturday and Sunday from 1 to 3 p.m. Come as you are.
