Myrtle Beach native John “Farlo” Farrelly opened this Southwest-inspired cantina in the re-emerging downtown district in 2012. Offering only fresh ingredients, Farlo boasts that his restaurant has no freezer.
Made-to-order tacos and burritos are the staple of the menu, but it’s the quality of the grub stuffed inside the tortilla shells that makes this place unique. Order a steak, beef, chicken or pulled pork burrito and you can hear the sizzle from the grill in the kitchen preparing your meat fresh while you peruse the toppings on the service bar. Fresh guacamole, salsas, pico de gallo, sour cream, sautéed peppers and onions and cheeses are available – as much as you can fit and fold. For something slightly different, try the Fajita Burrito, a Burrito Salad or a Burrito Bowl in a crispy tortilla shell. Tacos and quesadillas are also on the lineup, and every item on the menu can be made vegetarian. Hot chips and fresh salsa come with every order, and the variety of hot, medium and mild insures a dipping flavor for everyone’s taste buds. Wash it down with a cold beer or beverage.
Farlo’s Burrito Bar is small, 25-30 seats, with a front patio porch offering an excellent view of the downtown district. The atmosphere is casual with a diverse crowd. Farlo recently restored a beautiful antique bar and plans to get a liquor license to add margaritas to the mix.
