This once-popular national pizza chain still has more than 600 stores in 42 states, but this is the only one with an hour’s drive of Myrtle Beach. Founded in Omaha, Neb., a few of these franchises have stood the test of time thanks to their unique pizza.
Godfather’s Pizza was founded on a few ideals that set it apart from other pizza chains – the generous use of fresh toppings, a crispy, hand-tossed crust, a rich Marinara sauce and mountains of melted Mozzarella cheese. Regardless of which of the 20-plus toppings you choose, including anchovies, real Italian sausage and spicy peppers, each pie comes with the foundation that keeps pizza-lovers coming back for more. Try the Classic Combo, The Works, Hawaiian Pizza, Taco Pizza or the Hot Stuff. For those with adventurous taste buds and a hearty appetite, the buffet features all the Godfather’s favorites and more, such as the well-stocked salad bar, cheese sticks and Monkey Bread. Godfather’s also offers wings, calzones and certain gluten-free items, as well as dessert pizzas like the Chocolate Chip Cookie Pie.
The modest strip-mall location is about what one would expect from a pizzeria, with wooden booths and tables spread throughout the dining area. The buffet is secluded enough to cut down on the foot traffic around diners. The vibe is casual and fun.
