OK, so it’s not so much a restaurant as an ice cream parlor … but a very tasty ice cream parlor. This local mom-and-pop shop has two locations in Myrtle Beach located only a couple of miles apart but still manages to pack them in during the summer months. Both stores are only a couple of blocks from the beach so it’s a great place to cool off on a hot summer day.
Ice cream is the ultimate comfort food, and Kirk’s is the ultimate place to satisfy your sweet tooth for some frozen, creamy goodness. Kirk’s offers as many as 40 different flavors in a long display case and allows guests to sample some of their creative flavors before taking the dive and ordering a scoop or two. Kirk’s has all the traditional favorite flavors, such as vanilla, chocolate, strawberry and rocky road, as well as some unique concoctions such as Orange, Pineapple and Strawberry Swirl, Blackberry Cheesecake and Chunky Monkey Chocolate. Get two scoops in a cup, a cone or a freshly made waffle cone, or go crazy and get a milkshake, sundae or a banana split. It’s all good at Kirk’s.
The “1890” reference in the title is the theme of this store that opened in the 1970s. Soda fountain chairs, time-period photos and outdated games add to the old-timey feel, although the more modern video games remind one of current times. The crowd is largely made up of families with children so things can get a little rowdy on hot summer nights.
