River Street Sweets

Originally started in Savannah, Georgia, River Street Sweets is the perfect place for anyone with a sweet tooth. River Street Sweets began in 1973 when Tim Strickland attended the Atlanta Gift Market trade show with his family. He and his family were walking around shopping to find stuff for their gift shop in Savannah on historic river street. Tom happened to stumble upon a fudge pot for sale and begged his parents to buy it for him. His parents eventually bought it and they made their first-ever batch of fudge within a week. His sister Jennifer first made a batch of mint fudge for St.Patrick’s day where it quickly sold out. The family then realized a candy shop was way more likely to be successful than a gift shop and converted their family-run gift shop to, “River Street Sweets.”

To this day Tim and his sister Jennifer still run River Street Sweets. Some of their most popular items include their World Famous Pralines. These pralines are hand-dipped onto a piece of marble and currently generate more than $30 million in annual sales. River Street Sweets World Famous Pralines are a must-try when visiting- you’re sure to love them!

In addition to their World Famous Pralines, other favorite items include chocolate bear claws, fresh Salt Water Taffy, hand-dipped caramel Apples, and even homemade Ice Cream! Guests can also enjoy watching the candy makers dip pralines onto marble slabs, stir glazed pecans into giant copper kettles, or see how their 100-year-old saltwater taffy is made!
