Located on North Ocean Boulevard where “The Strip” transitions to “The Golden Mile,” the Sea Captain’s House has been serving award-winning seafood on the Myrtle Beach oceanfront for more than a half-century. Generations of families come back year after year to enjoy a seafood feast while feasting their eyes on the scenic Atlantic Ocean.
Serving as a small guest house beginning in the mid-1950s, the Sea Captain’s House began operating as a restaurant in 1962 and became a popular spot for locals and tourists alike. The building retains its guest-house vibe, and the ocean view creates the perfect atmosphere for a wonderful meal.
Sea Captain’s House is famous for its seafood platters, heaping servings of fish, shrimp, scallops and other fresh catches prepared broiled or fried. The shrimp and grits are the house specialty that has gained national acclaim, and the she-crab soup, shrimp scampi, and fresh select oysters are popular choices.
Sea Captain’s House also offers steak and chicken dishes as “landfood” options, or to complete a surf-and-turf combo. But don’t fill up because the desserts are legendary, particularly the Chocolate Bourbon Pecan Pie and Hot Fudge Sauce Cake.
Sea Captain’s House is also open for breakfast and lunch and has a nice happy hour. Breakfast favorites include the Crab Cake Benedict, the Seafarer’s Omelet and a full buffet of Southern classics. Lunch features daily specials, salads, sandwiches and small-portion versions of the dinner menu. Happy hour, held from 4 to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, has discounted drinks and special dishes like Bloody Mary Clams and Shrimp Tacos.
Sea Captain’s House serves three meals daily, seven days a week. Reservations are recommended but not required.
