Coming in 2014: North Myrtle Beach Park and Sports Complex

By

New things are always popping up in the Myrtle Beach area and we’re very excited about this one.  Just two miles from downtown North Myrtle Beach, a sports complex and park is currently under construction.  The North Myrtle Beach Park and Sports Complex, scheduled to open in March 2014, is a 160-acre complex that will host events and tournaments.  The complex will include six baseball fields, eight football/soccer fields, three playgrounds, and an amphitheater.  There will also be a 25-acre lake and a three-acre dog park.

Even better, the seventh annual Quidditch World Cup will be hosted at the North Myrtle Beach Park and Sports Complex on April 5 and 6, 2014.  The Quidditch World Cup will serve as the Grand Opening Ceremony for the sports complex.

Just in case you’re not familiar with quidditch, it’s a Harry Potter inspired game that is a combination of rugby, dodge ball, tag, and hide-and-seek.  Players carry brooms between their legs and attempt to get a partially deflated volleyball through one of three hoops.  The event is expected to bring quite a crowd and will be something definitely worth checking out if you are in town.
