What’s New in Myrtle Beach for 2018
Myrtle Beach is always growing, and the year 2018 will be seeing big chages along the Grand Strand. From new restaurants and attractions, to new shops and airline flights, check out what's new for 2018 in Myrtle Beach below:
LuLu's at Barefoot Landing
If you haven't already noticed, Barefoot Landing is making some major changes. LuLu's by Lucy Buffett is currently being built along the Intracoastal Waterway as part of a new restaurant district that will be called Dockside Village. LuLu's will be a 400-seat restaurant with nightly live music, an arcade, ropes course, large sandy beach, and LuLu's Shag Beach Bar.
Rioz North Myrtle Beach
Rioz fans will be delighted to hear that the Brazilian steakhouse is planning to open a second location in North Myrtle Beach. If everything pans out as expected, the restaurant will be located in the former location of Party Maker and Cottage Antiques.
El Cerro Grande
Popular Mexican restaurant, El Cerro Grande, is opening a new location in Murrells Inlet for 2018. The new restaurant will be situated on Highway 17 Business and Inlet Square Drive, just across from TGI Fridays.
Blueberry's Grill has become increasingly popular in Myrtle Beach throughout the past year; so much so that they will be opening a second location at Barefoot Landing! The breakfast restaurant serves up delicious breakfast classics as well as their own unique recipes.
You Eat I Bake
You Eat I Bake is a new bakery in The Market Common in Myrtle Beach. This unique bakery offers made from scratch confections, many of which are gluten free, vegan, paleo, sugar-free, and more. You'll find all kinds of delicious items here, like the Life Changing Chocolate Cupcakes.
If you've been to a farmers market or festival in Myrtle Beach, chances are you've run into Jupiter Pies. Jupiter Pies is a family-owned business that sells homemade mini-pies, bread puddings, and more. They recently opened up shop on Highway 707 so now you don't have to wait to catch them at an event to get your fix of their delicious treats.
Sandlapper Grill recently opened on Highway 17 Bypass across from Palmetto Point Boulevard. This family-run diner serves up Southern comfort food, fried seafood, Cajun pasta, burgers, sandwiches, soups, salads, and much more.
Doesn't Matter Bar & Grill
The Carolina Forest location of Beef 'o' Brady's closed in 2017, but a new restaurant called Doesn't Matter Bar & Grill has taken its place recently. This casual eatery is the perfect place to go when you ask your friend “where do you want to eat?” and they said “doesn't matter!” This bar & grill serves bar food such as burgers, cheesesteaks, sandwiches, wings, and more, as well as steaks, spring rolls, pizza, and much more.
The city of Myrtle Beach recently changed the laws surrounding food trucks, so you will most likely see more and more driving around in 2018! One that has been popping up all over the place lately has been the Trojan Cow, which serves gourmet stuffed burgers and other yummy items.
RipTydz Oceanfront Grille & Rooftop Bar
RipTydz Oceanfront Bar & Grille was supposed to open at the beginning of 2017, but after some setbacks, this now popular restuarant opened its doors at the end of the summer. This oceanfront restaurant is sure to be a huge hit in 2018 with its rooftop bar and menu that is chock-full of seafood options as well as burgers, tacos, sandwiches, specialty cocktails, and more.
810 Billiards and Bowling
810 Billiards and Bowling will be opening in the near future in the former Piggly Wiggly location at The Market Common. The attraction, owned by the folks at 710 North Myrtle Beach, was originally slated to open in Conway by Coastal Carolina University, but has since been asked by The Market Common to open there. 810 will feature billiards, bowling, an arcade, and a restaurant, providing entertainment to families, locals, and visitors to Myrtle Beach.
In late 2017, Topgolf received its final approval to start construction in Myrtle Beach. The attraction, which boasts many locations across the United States, will be opening across the street from Broadway at the Beach. Topgolf features a multi-level driving range, nightclub, bar, and restaurant. Keep your eyes peeled for more information about this highly-anticipated addition to the area.
New Stores at Tanger Outlets
Myrtle Beach has two Tanger Outlets locations, and both are constantly adding new stores to their lineup. The 501 location recently added a new GNC store, and the Highway 17 location will soon be opening a Steve Madden shop.
Big Changes Coming to 21st Ave
21st Avenue North in downtown Myrtle Beach will soon be the site of tons of new changes. The Breakers Resort registration building will be taken down and replaced with a new Mariott hotel. There are also plans to create a maritime forest on the oceanfront near this new hotel in order to create a more scenic area. Long-term plans include tearing down buildings across the street and constructing residential and commerical spaces.
South Bay Inn & Suites
A new hotel called South Bay Inn & Suites is slated to open up along the Myrtle Beach Boardwalk by May 2018. The new property will be the only oceanfront waterpark resort on the boardwalk and will be located on 6th Avenue North in the heart of Myrtle Beach.
New Flights to MYR
The Myrtle Beach International Airport recently announced tons of new flights for 2018. These new flights include:
•Starting April 12, 2018, Spirit Airlines will be offering nonstop flights to and from MYR and Minneapolis- St. Paul. These flights will run three times per week.
•On Mondays and Fridays between April 6 and June 4, Sun County Airlines will be offering twice-a-week flights to and from MYR and Minneapolis.
•American Airlines will be offering Saturday flights between Myrtle Beach and the Dallas/Fort Worth Airport. These flights will begin on April 7 and will take off at 3:15 p.m.
•Beginning on April 12, 2018, Spirit Airlines will be offering flights between MYR and Dallas/Fort Worth. These flights will run on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays.
•Elite Airways, a new airline at MYR, will be offering flights to Albany, NY; White Plains, NY; and Newport News, VA.
•Flights to Albany begin on April 5th and run on Thursdays and Sundays.
•Flights to White Plains begin on April 5 and run on Thursdays and Sundays.
•Flights to Newport News begin on April 6 and run on Fridays and Mondays.
Tents Allowed on Surfside Beach
The town of Surfside Beach recently made a decision to allow tents on the beach. Tents must be backed up to the emergency lane, leave 8 ft. of space from the dunes, and be 6 ft. apart from other tents.
