What to do in Myrtle Beach at night with kids

By

During the day, there’s so much to do in Myrtle Beach, the difficulty is really in deciding which fun thing you want to do more—but if you’re traveling with kids, it can be a little tougher to figure out what to do once the sun goes down.

Fortunately, Myrtle Beach is such a family-friendly town, there are plenty of options for fun activities appropriate for all ages, you’ll still have a ball after dark. Here are a few of our favorite options:

Enjoy some Hot Summer Nights
This is a staple of summer evenings in Myrtle Beach. Every night starting at 8 p.m., 7 p.m. on Tuesdays, from June 1 through Sept. 1, the Oceanfront Boardwalk and Promenade hops with activity as part of the free and fun Hot Summer Nights.

Tuesday nights, head to Plyler Park for a kids carnival. There are free concerts most nights, plus oceanfront fireworks at 10 p.m. on Wednesdays. Also keep an eye out for a strolling Dixieland band from 6 to 9 p.m. on Fridays and an Elvis impersonator most nights. See a full calendar of Hot Summer Nights events at the Oceanfront Merchants Association website.

Check out Broadway
Broadway at the Beach is one of the top destinations for visitors to Myrtle Beach, and it’s little wonder—there’s more shopping and entertainment there than just about anywhere else in Myrtle Beach, including Pavilion Nostalgia Park, an amusement park that’s open until 11 p.m. in June, July and August. Broadway at the Beach also has free fireworks shows at 10 p.m. throughout the summer, mostly on Tuesday and Friday nights. See the full Broadway fireworks show schedule here.

Relax with a free movie
Now, for those nights where you really need to take it easy and re-charge a little bit, there’s no shame in heading to your room and watching a movie. And if you stay at Breakers Resort, Bay View Resort, Compass Cove Resort or Paradise Resort, you now get free, unlimited DVD rentals with every reservation. Just find the DVDNow rental card that you get at check-in and find the movie kiosks at the resort. The kiosks are filled with the latest hit movie, which can help you recharge the kids with a relaxing evening relaxing in your room.

Plus, the DVDNow benefit comes with free admission to Myrtle Waves water park or NASCAR SpeedPark plus free mini golf, so getting to bed early one night can just mean more fun the next day!
