Myrtle Beach to Change Name to Carolina City?

A proposal before the city council seeking to change the name of Myrtle Beach to Carolina City appears to have the support of at least four of the seven council members.
Proponents of the name change, which has drawn widespread criticism from locals and tourism leaders alike, say they have convinced enough city leaders the new name is best for the community. A vote would have to pass three readings but could happen as early as this summer if approved.
